Bath resealing for Hope homes

Bath resealing in Hope, done in place

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. If you’re dealing with gaps by the taps and black mould in the sealant, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Air the room after use

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes about two hours for a bath in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Make sure the area is dry

Questions from Hope

What areas do you cover?

All of Wrexham, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

What affects the price in Hope

You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hope. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode

For a price in Hope, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A flexing bath
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hope

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hope use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
