Bath resealing in Hotwells

What we cannot put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

How we handle bath resealing in Hotwells

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and mould you can’t clean out, on basins & vanity units, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.

Do you need bath resealing in Hotwells?

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

  • If travel is included in the price
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

How to compare quotes

Your questions about bath resealing in Hotwells

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Are there extra charges for Hotwells?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hotwells

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a couple of hours for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
