About bath repair in BS3
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about a chip where the taps sit and a kit repair that didn’t last.
The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
What it costs in BS3
Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why book with us
- No need to remove anything
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- One visit for most repairs
- Work done at your home or business
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Local landmarks in Bedminster
Around Bedminster, we work in homes near Bristol Cathedral Choir School, St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School and Compass Point Primary School, among other places. Also close by are Victoria Park (0.7 miles east), St John the Baptist's Church (less than half a mile east) and London Inn (under half a mile north-east). There’s a railway station in Bedminster itself: Bedminster station. Other landmarks nearby include Avon (1.1 miles north-east) and St Bartholomew's Hospital (1.2 miles north). Open spaces near Bedminster include Tarn Lake and Brandon Hill.
How the damage happens
Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.
It’s worth getting a quote if you see:
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Holes from dropped items
- A chipped rim or side
Can I fix it myself?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
Work for landlords and builders
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.
If you manage property in BS3, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.
What affects the price in BS3
Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for BS3. What changes the price is:
- The type of damage
- How much damage there is
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Access to the area
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Getting a price from pictures
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Details of any past repairs
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
BS3: your questions answered
What about rust by the waste?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Does someone need to be in?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Will I be able to see the repair?
We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.
What happens next?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
