Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Bath resealing in Humberstone, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We are frequently asked to fix water getting behind the bath or tray and discoloured, yellow sealant, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take around two hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Signs you need bath resealing in Humberstone

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Unsealed corners

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A flexing bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

How we price bath resealing

We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

If you are in Humberstone and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Humberstone use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Resealing in Humberstone: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.
