Bath resealing at your home in King's Newton

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. If you are dealing with old sealant that looks dirty and damp near the bath, we can help, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

The process

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow around two hours from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

King's Newton: your questions answered

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in King's Newton.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

What bath resealing costs

You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

Why it’s worth resealing in King's Newton

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in King's Newton

When to call us in King's Newton

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Gaps in the seal

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether the price covers travel

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Use the extractor fan

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, typically around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
