Bath resealing near Ripley

Bath resealing at your home in Ripley

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We regularly repair wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and people most frequently call us about water getting behind the bath or tray and stained silicone.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

FAQs for Ripley

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

How much does bath resealing cost in Ripley?

We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your DE5 postcode.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take around two hours.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep the joints dry

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ripley

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Derbyshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When to call us in Ripley

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

What to look for in a quote

  • What prep work is covered
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before you book

Prices and what affects them

We do not charge extra for travel to Ripley. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
