Bath resealing in Lenzie

Your questions about bath resealing in Lenzie

Can new silicone go over old?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Lenzie and the rest of East Dunbartonshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Bath resealing in Lenzie without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We regularly repair basins & vanity units, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about water getting behind the bath or tray and sealant that’s split or lifting.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Signs you need bath resealing in Lenzie

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

People generally call us after spotting something like this:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Stained silicone
  • Leaks at the edges
  • A messy previous reseal

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lenzie use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Resealing in Lenzie: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
