Bath resealing for Little Green homes

Bath resealing in Little Green without replacing anything

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. We work on baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are mould you can’t clean out and silicone coming away from the tiles.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

  • Black mould in the sealant

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.
