Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Bath resealing in Lockton, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include sealant that’s split or lifting and gaps by the taps, in baths, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in North Yorkshire.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes around two hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

If you manage property in Lockton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Let steam out after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Do you need bath resealing in Lockton?

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Black spots in the silicone

Your questions about bath resealing in Lockton

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across North Yorkshire.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are there extra charges for Lockton?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you come to Lockton?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Lockton. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
