Bath resealing near Whitby

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Everything repaired in place

How we handle bath resealing in Whitby

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. Typical jobs include missing sealant behind the taps and water getting behind the bath or tray, in shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes around two hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Whitby and the surrounding area

Whitby is about 17 miles north-west of Scarborough, in North Yorkshire. Whether you are in the middle of Whitby or on the outskirts, we offer exactly the same service: a fixed price, a tidy visit and a guarantee. Whitby is one of 626 towns and villages in North Yorkshire where we work. We work right across the region, from Whitby to Newcastle upon Tyne (about 54 miles away).

Here we cover the YO21 and YO22 postcode area. We regularly work on streets such as Station Square, Well Close Square and Mount Square and the roads around them. With the A171 and A174 close by, Whitby is easy for our repair technicians to reach. If you are just outside Whitby, we cover Ruswarp (1 mile south-west), Ewe Cote (1 mile west), Newholm (2 miles west), Sneaton (2 miles south) and Briggswath (2 miles south-west). Larger places within reach include Newby (15 miles south-east), Scalby (14 miles south-east), Burniston (13 miles south-east) and Sleights (3 miles south-west). As one of the bigger places in North Yorkshire, Whitby is somewhere we visit frequently.

Around Whitby

We visit homes around George Hotel, Airy Hill Primary School and Church of St John the Evangelist, among other places. Whitby has its own railway station: Whitby station. A little further out are Whitby Hospital (less than half a mile south) and Whitby Castle (under half a mile north-east).

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Whitby as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

What we are called out for in Whitby

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

The things customers normally mention when they call include:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Gaps in the seal

What your quote should include

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

10 questions to ask before you book

Whitby: your questions answered

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote. There is no obligation to book.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of North Yorkshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Whitby?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What affects the price in Whitby

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many items we do on one visit

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
