Bath resealing near Lydiard Green

About our bath resealing in Lydiard Green

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We are often asked to fix gaps by the taps and gaps in the seal, on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Swindon and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Lydiard Green: your questions answered

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Do you come to Lydiard Green?

We do. Technicians travel to Lydiard Green from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Usually because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

How long does resealing take?

Normally a couple of hours, plus curing time.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Resealing in Lydiard Green: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Do you need bath resealing in Lydiard Green?

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Black spots in the silicone

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before booking

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no area surcharge for Lydiard Green. What changes the price is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
