Bath resealing in Malmesbury

Common problems we fix in Malmesbury

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Unsealed corners
  • Black spots in the silicone

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How soon you can use it again

Our hiring checklist

Bath resealing in Malmesbury without replacing anything

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Our repair technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people get in touch are black spots in the silicone and water getting behind the bath or tray.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a couple of hours in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Your questions about bath resealing in Malmesbury

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Do you cover Malmesbury?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Malmesbury and the rest of Wiltshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Malmesbury

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Air the room after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
