Bath resealing at your home in Medlam

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We are frequently asked to fix silicone coming away from the tiles and mould you can’t clean out, in shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Common questions in Medlam

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Lincolnshire.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Are there extra charges for Medlam?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you cover Medlam?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Medlam and the rest of Lincolnshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How much does bath resealing cost in Medlam?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Landlord and trade work in Medlam

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When to call us in Medlam

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps by the taps

Choosing a repair company

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What affects the price in Medlam

You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately whether it can be repaired.
