Bath resealing near Meerhay

Bath resealing at your home in Meerhay

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. We’re often asked to fix sealant that’s split or lifting and unsealed corners, on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Landlord and trade work in Meerhay

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Air the room after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, usually around 24 hours.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Prices and what affects them

You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Your questions about bath resealing in Meerhay

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Why it’s worth resealing in Meerhay

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Meerhay clients choose us

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • No need to remove anything
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a couple of hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

When to call us in Meerhay

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Stained silicone

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts
