Bath resealing in Meysey Hampton

Bath resealing in Meysey Hampton without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are leaks at the edges and silicone smeared on tiles.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How it works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Open a window if you can

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Meysey Hampton use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Open a window after bathing

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Meysey Hampton questions

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Meysey Hampton and the rest of Gloucestershire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

Resealing in Meysey Hampton: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.
