Bath resealing at your home in Mickley

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Whether it’s silicone coming away from the tiles and gaps by the taps, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Common problems we fix in Mickley

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • An untidy old seal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What aftercare is recommended

Choosing a repair company

Mickley: your questions answered

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, including clearing up.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Landlord and trade work in Mickley

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Mickley as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Why it’s worth resealing in Mickley

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
