About our bath resealing in Middle Tysoe

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and baths, and common reasons people contact us are damp near the bath and sealant that’s split or lifting.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Common problems we fix in Middle Tysoe

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • An untidy old seal

Before booking anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Who will actually do the work
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

Choosing a repair company

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hidden water damage

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Keep the joints dry

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

How we price bath resealing

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Middle Tysoe. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Middle Tysoe get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
