Landlord and trade work in Mimbridge
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.
How we handle bath resealing in Mimbridge
The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Common call-outs are for old sealant that looks dirty and an untidy old seal, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Is resealing worth it?
Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why choose Surface Doctor in Mimbridge

Read our prices page.
What we cannot put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Use the extractor fan
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Give the seal a regular clean
- Wipe the joints dry after use
Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.
Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
What we do, step by step
We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow about two hours for a bath.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
Before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Mimbridge questions
What does bath resealing cost?
Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your GU24 postcode.
Will there be a smell?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working.
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Normally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
What happens next?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Will the price change on the day?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
What affects the price in Mimbridge
You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How much damage there is
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Mimbridge. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send pictures for a quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A photo taken from further back
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Something in shot to show the size
Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your GU24 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
