Bath resealing in Moblake

About our bath resealing in Moblake

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We regularly repair baths, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people get in touch are black spots in the silicone and water getting behind the bath or tray.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Moblake and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take around two hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access

What affects the price in Moblake

There’s no area surcharge for Moblake. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Moblake questions

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you cover Moblake?

We do. We send a technician to Moblake for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Cheshire East. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Usually because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

What a repair cannot fix

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Do you need bath resealing in Moblake?

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Gaps in the seal

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

How to compare quotes

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
