Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Bath resealing in Morridge Side without replacing anything

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. Whether it’s discoloured, yellow sealant and black mould in the sealant, we can generally put it right.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the work takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

How to get a price

Advice

When to call us in Morridge Side

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Stained silicone
  • Black mould in the sealant

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Morridge Side. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
