Bath resealing in Musbury

Bath resealing in Musbury without replacing anything

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. We work on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are stained silicone and sealant that’s split or lifting.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hidden water damage

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

Resealing in Musbury: why it matters

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take around two hours.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Questions from Musbury

Do you come to Musbury?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Musbury and the rest of Devon. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Musbury. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
