How we handle bath resealing in Nettlebed

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. If you are dealing with old sealant that looks dirty and an untidy old seal, we can help, whatever the material.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Nettlebed and across Oxfordshire.

Nettlebed questions

Do you cover Nettlebed?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Nettlebed from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How much does bath resealing cost in Nettlebed?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Nettlebed and the rest of Oxfordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

Resealing in Nettlebed: why it matters

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How it works

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A flexing bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

How we price bath resealing

We do not charge extra for travel to Nettlebed. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
