Bath resealing in Nevendon

Bath resealing in Nevendon without replacing anything

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most frequently call us about mould you can’t clean out and stained silicone.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

FAQs for Nevendon

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Usually after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Let steam out after showers

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Do you need bath resealing in Nevendon?

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Unsealed corners

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • What preparation is included
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before booking

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Nevendon. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
