Bath resealing for Thundersley homes

Why it’s worth resealing in Thundersley

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Bath resealing in Thundersley without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with sealant that’s split or lifting and black mould in the sealant, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we do, step by step

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes about two hours for a bath, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Your questions about bath resealing in Thundersley

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Are there extra charges for Thundersley?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

What does bath resealing cost?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Do you work in Thundersley?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Thundersley and the rest of Essex. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Thundersley

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Signs you need bath resealing in Thundersley

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

Questions to ask before you book

  • If travel is included in the price
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How the colour is matched
