About our bath resealing in Newtown

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. We’re frequently asked to fix silicone smeared on tiles and black spots in the silicone, in basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Newtown and across Staffordshire.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Newtown: your questions answered

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you cover the whole of Staffordshire?

Across the UK, and that includes Newtown. Prices do not change with location.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

The process

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

How to get a price

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately whether it can be repaired.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Newtown, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Why it’s worth resealing in Newtown

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • One visit for most repairs
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • One price list for the whole UK

Prices and what affects them

There is no charge for travel to Newtown. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Newtown. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Common problems we fix in Newtown

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Questions to ask before you book

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How to care for the finish
  • When it can be used again
