Bath resealing in Turnberry Estate

Bath resealing in Turnberry Estate, done in place

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and common reasons people contact us are old sealant that looks dirty and gaps in the seal.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Turnberry Estate: your questions answered

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Do you cover the entire of Walsall?

Across the UK, and that includes Turnberry Estate. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Landlord and trade work in Turnberry Estate

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

What affects the price in Turnberry Estate

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many items we do on one visit

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Turnberry Estate get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When to call us in Turnberry Estate

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
