Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Bath resealing in Oldfield without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We are often asked to fix mould you can’t clean out and old sealant that looks dirty, across kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Oldfield and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How it works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes about two hours for a bath, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Oldfield, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Oldfield use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Prices and what affects them

We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Common questions in Oldfield

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of Kirklees. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

Do you need bath resealing in Oldfield?

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Before you book anyone

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
