How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

How we handle bath resealing in Peterchurch

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Common call-outs are for silicone smeared on tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, on wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Your questions about bath resealing in Peterchurch

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Herefordshire.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • One visit for most repairs

See our prices page.

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for around two hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Mould you can’t clean out
