Bath resealing for Portsmouth homes

Bath resealing in Portsmouth, done in place

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about unsealed corners and sealant that’s split or lifting.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Portsmouth: your questions answered

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Do you cover the whole of Portsmouth?

Everywhere in the UK, Portsmouth included. Travel is included in the price.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the area is dry

Common problems we fix in Portsmouth

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Stained silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Questions to ask before booking

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Portsmouth

If you manage property in Portsmouth, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
