Bath resealing in Priddy's Hard without replacing anything

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they keep water out. Typical jobs include missing sealant behind the taps and leaks at the edges, in baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we can’t put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A flexing bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Signs you need bath resealing in Priddy's Hard

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Priddy's Hard. What changes the price is:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

FAQs for Priddy's Hard

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Do you cover Priddy's Hard?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Priddy's Hard. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
