Bath resealing near Priorslee

Bath resealing in Priorslee, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s silicone smeared on tiles and gaps by the taps, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Telford and Wrekin.

Priorslee questions

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you come to Priorslee?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Priorslee. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow around two hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Signs you need bath resealing in Priorslee

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Black spots in the silicone

What to look for in a quote

  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered

10 questions to ask before you book

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How easy the damage is to reach

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Most clients in Priorslee get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

If you manage property in Priorslee, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
