Bath resealing at your home in Redford

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Whether it’s damp near the bath and gaps by the taps, we can typically put it right, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes around two hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Why it’s worth resealing in Redford

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

FAQs for Redford

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

We will give you the curing time.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

When to call us in Redford

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • A messy previous reseal

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Aftercare advice

Choosing a repair company

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

If you’re in Redford and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
