Bath resealing in Rucklers Lane

How we handle bath resealing in Rucklers Lane

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Whether it’s stained silicone and a messy previous reseal, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What bath resealing costs

We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When a repair is not the answer

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

What we are called out for in Rucklers Lane

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
