Bath resealing near Ryeford

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

How we handle bath resealing in Ryeford

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We regularly repair baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are an untidy old seal and gaps in the seal.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

See our pricing.

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Ryeford. What changes the price is:

  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Ryeford, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Signs you need bath resealing in Ryeford

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Mould you can’t clean out

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Air the room after use
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a couple of hours.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
