Bath resealing at your home in Ryton

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. Typical jobs include silicone coming away from the tiles and gaps by the taps, in baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in Ryton

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting

Questions to ask before you book

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlord and trade work in Ryton

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Ryton questions

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Do you work in Ryton?

We do. Technicians travel to Ryton from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

What affects the price in Ryton

We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes around two hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
