Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

How we handle bath resealing in Stella

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with gaps by the taps and water getting behind the bath or tray, we can usually put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Why it’s worth resealing in Stella

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Related advice

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Movement in the bath or tray

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Common problems we fix in Stella

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Leaks at the edges

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Stella

There is no area surcharge for Stella. The price reflects:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Stella questions

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
