Bath resealing for Salt homes

About our bath resealing in Salt

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We regularly repair wet rooms, basins & vanity units and baths, and the jobs we see most are silicone coming away from the tiles and an untidy old seal.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Salt and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Salt questions

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Salt?

Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

What affects the price in Salt

Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Signs you need bath resealing in Salt

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

The things clients normally mention when they call include:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • Stained silicone

Questions to ask before booking

  • How your room will be protected
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What prep work is covered
  • Who turns up on the day

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Let steam out after showers

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
