Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Looking after it afterwards
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Open a window after bathing
- Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
The process
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
- We make sure the joint is completely dry.
- We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
- New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.
How to prepare
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Let us know which floor the room is on

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Selby use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in North Yorkshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Hidden water damage
- A flexing bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Prices and what affects them
You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:
- How much damage there is
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How many items we do on one visit
- What the surface is made of
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Getting a price from photos
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Any details about the material

Most clients in Selby get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
FAQs for Selby
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.
How long before I can shower?
We’ll give you the curing time, usually around a day.
How soon can you come?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Why does my sealant keep splitting?
Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
Do you work in Selby?
We do. We send a technician to Selby for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
What does bath resealing cost?
Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your YO8 postcode.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Why reseal now?
Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Selby. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
