Common questions in Sharpham

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Sharpham.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

About our bath resealing in Sharpham

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We regularly repair wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most often call us about leaks at the edges and stained silicone.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your BA16 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Sharpham. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Everything repaired in place

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

When to call us in Sharpham

In time, even good sealant discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Unsealed corners

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How your room will be protected
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
