How we handle bath resealing in Shop

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, plus curing time. We regularly repair baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and people most frequently call us about an untidy old seal and discoloured, yellow sealant.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Resealing in Shop: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Movement in the bath or tray

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

Questions from Shop

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

The process

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
