What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Shroton

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Bath resealing in Shroton without replacing anything

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you’re dealing with black mould in the sealant and discoloured, yellow sealant, we can normally put it right.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Shroton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes around two hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Shroton questions

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

You will get the curing time from us, normally around a day.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Shroton?

We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your DT11 postcode.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you need bath resealing in Shroton?

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Shroton. What changes the price is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Why it’s worth resealing in Shroton

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Shroton. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
