Bath resealing near Sighthill

Bath resealing in Sighthill, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. Typical jobs include sealant that’s split or lifting and a messy previous reseal, on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Why it’s worth resealing in Sighthill

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Landlord and trade work in Sighthill

For anyone letting property in or around Sighthill, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Sighthill questions

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally after around 24 hours. We will tell you the exact time.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
