How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Resealing in Sithney Common: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Sithney Common customers choose us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Everything repaired in place

See our prices page.

What a repair can’t fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Sithney Common questions

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Sithney Common and the rest of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do you come to Sithney Common?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Sithney Common. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take about two hours for a bath.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
