How we handle bath resealing in Sough

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. If you’re dealing with silicone smeared on tiles and discoloured, yellow sealant, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hidden water damage
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Resealing in Sough: why it matters

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Common questions in Sough

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Lancashire.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What bath resealing costs

You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Access to the area
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For a price in Sough, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Lancashire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a couple of hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
