Bath resealing near St Mary Bourne

About our bath resealing in St Mary Bourne

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are discoloured, yellow sealant and gaps in the seal.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know about parking or access

What bath resealing costs

You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
