Need bath resealing in Stanford?

Why it’s worth resealing in Stanford

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Stanford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Bath resealing in Stanford without replacing anything

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We regularly repair wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are an untidy old seal and gaps by the taps.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Central Bedfordshire.

Prices and what affects them

You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes around two hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

What a repair cannot fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Signs you need bath resealing in Stanford

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Look out for these signs:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Damp near the bath

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Stanford questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

How long does silicone take to cure?

We’ll give you the curing time.
