Trusted bath resealing in Stone Street

How we handle bath resealing in Stone Street

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We’re often asked to fix silicone smeared on tiles and water getting behind the bath or tray, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes about two hours for a bath, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

Questions from Stone Street

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Air the room after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Stone Street

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
