Bath resealing in Sully and Lavernock, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. Our technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths, and the jobs we see most are unsealed corners and mould you can’t clean out.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Signs you need bath resealing in Sully and Lavernock

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Most people contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Unsealed corners
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

Our hiring checklist

Landlord and trade work in Sully and Lavernock

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in the Vale of Glamorgan and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How we price bath resealing

There’s no area surcharge for Sully and Lavernock. What changes the price is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Where you are, by postcode

Most clients in Sully and Lavernock get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Your questions about bath resealing in Sully and Lavernock

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

How long will it take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow around two hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Ensure the area is dry

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
