Bath resealing in Summerbridge, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include a messy previous reseal and old sealant that looks dirty, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Summerbridge questions

How long does a reseal take?

Typically a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Normally because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Summerbridge as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When to call us in Summerbridge

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Gaps in the seal
  • An untidy old seal
  • Damp near the bath

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Advice

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
