Need bath resealing in Sutton Common?

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Bath resealing in Sutton Common without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. We regularly repair basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are black mould in the sealant and gaps in the seal.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

FAQs for Sutton Common

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

How long does silicone take to cure?

We’ll give you the curing time.

Do you come to Sutton Common?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Sutton Common for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A photo taken from further back

For a price in Sutton Common, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

The process

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
